Riley Green Names His New Album After a Moment of Regret

There’s something fitting about Riley Green closing out a run of upbeat singles with a song built entirely around hesitation, and “That’s Just Me,” the title track from his fourth studio album, does exactly that.

Green has spent the better part of two years building toward this record, teasing pieces of it since early 2025 through stripped-down acoustic clips online before officially confirming the album alongside lead single “Think as You Drunk” back in May. By the time “That’s Just Me” arrived as the title track on September 18th, expectations were already high, and the Alabama native chose to meet them with something quieter than his usual rowdy streak.

The song follows a familiar shape for Green: he opens by leaning on the natural imagery of home, comparing a woman’s beauty to the landscape he grew up around, before the second verse turns more uncertain, questioning where things stand and what she’s really thinking. Producer Dann Huff builds the arrangement patiently, fingerpicked acoustic guitar giving way to steel guitar, then a creeping electric riff, until the whole thing swells right before pulling back to the same picking pattern that opened it. It’s a structural choice that mirrors the song’s emotional arc almost perfectly, buildup, admission, retreat.

What makes the release land is context. Coming off 2024’s Don’t Mind If I Do and stepping into a new role as a coach on The Voice this year, Green had every reason to lean fully commercial on his next album. Instead, “That’s Just Me” doubles down on vulnerability, choosing a hook that reads almost like an apology for feeling too much.
