Troye Sivan – She’s the Best (ALBUM)

Troye Sivan has the pop conversation to himself this week with She’s the Best, his fourth album, which arrived October 9. A song from the record, “Party,” was already making noise online before release, and the full project is now sitting high in early UK chart figures.

Sivan has spent over a decade moving between pop, film, and fashion, and he rarely repeats himself. His last album, Something to Give Each Other, landed in 2023 and cracked the Billboard 200 Top 5. She’s the Best is his first full release since moving to Interscope, and it is framed as a record meant to be seen as much as heard.

The title track shows where his head is. It opens with spoken verses, then guitars, strings, and synths pile in underneath until the whole thing breaks into a rush. Behind the desk were George Daniel, Jack Antonoff, and Styalz Fuego, working alongside Sivan himself. Across the album, he writes about desire, identity, loneliness, joy, and queer belonging. Reviewers have called it his boldest and strangest work, and they mean it as praise.

The pull this week comes from several directions. The title track’s video, directed by Gordon von Steiner, features Nicole Kidman. “Party” has been circulating as a viral favorite. And the album opened the UK midweek chart at Number 4, ahead of a crowded week of new releases.

MusicPorta says: Sivan has always had a voice that sounds like it is confessing something, and here he leans into that closeness without losing his pop instincts. The title track’s slow build and sudden release show real control of pacing, and the production gives his vocals space to feel intimate and theatrical at once. It is an artist stretching his sound on purpose, and it pays off.

MusicPorta Rating: ★★★★★
