FOLA – 9 (ALBUM)

FOLA’s sophomore album, “9,” arrives today, October 9, 2026, and anticipation has been building for weeks. The project had already climbed to number four on Apple Music Nigeria’s albums chart before release day.

FOLA is a Lagos-based singer-songwriter whose 2024 song “alone” changed the direction of his career. His debut album, “catharsis,” followed in September 2025. “9” is his next step, released through Dangbana Republik and EMPIRE.

The album runs 14 tracks, opening with “awade” and closing with “it’s over,” which brings in Bella Shmurda and Zlatan. Davido joins on “2am in toronto,” Ayra Starr on “treat u right,” BNXN on “my type” and Darkoo on “hold u down.” FOLA says he built the project with favorite producers, musicians and artists, with every song rooted in something real.

So why is “9” trending now? The title is a football reference. The number 9 striker is the player you call when the team needs a goal, and FOLA is pitching himself as that kind of artist. Early singles including “treat u right” and “it’s over” kept the conversation going, and release day has put the whole project in front of listeners.

MusicPorta says: A guest list this strong only works when the lead voice stays in charge, and FOLA’s warm, confessional songwriting has always given him that footing. “9” shows an artist confident enough to share the spotlight and still own the record, with a sense of purpose that runs through the title, the features and the sequencing.
